Men look at the faces first…

with 6 comments

…of women when shown pictures of (heterosexual) couples having sex – not the naughty bits. Whereas the women tend to stare in the direction of the ‘action’ areas (result dependent on the hormonal state of the woman).

This according an Emory University study.

Researchers hypothesized women would look at faces and men at genitals, but, surprisingly, they found men are more likely than women to first look at a woman’s face before other parts of the body, and women focused longer on photographs of men performing sexual acts with women than did the males. These types of results could play a key role in helping researchers to understand human sexual desires and its ultimate effect on public health.

Someone please tell me how to get funding for such stuff. I feel an urgent desire to change fields and make an impact on public health.

  1. You probably only want to be a subject of such a study…not the PI..no?:)

  3. I say it has to get more personal than just looking at photographs. Once they look at photographs and they choose someone, how satisfactory was the ..er.. experience? I think there will be a bee line of the photos…

  4. If we could have afforded it, it would have been Ash doing that study at Emory and would have hired me as a graduate assistant.

  6. […] At a time of serious funding crunches in science, it really gets my beef that people actually get paid for such stuff. (on similar lines here) […]
