Recurring Decimals…..

Everything here is irrelevant

…… is the distance, in miles, that the Pondit will be covering, huffing and puffing – on the streets of Chicago, come this fall. October 22 to be exact. Non refundable deposits for registration have been paid. Accommodations arranged for. Pretty much no looking back now.

Considering that the first person who tried this stunt met with a rather unfavorable fate (as the legend goes), the Pondit is a wee bit tense and apprehensive. However, training is in full swing and with enough hydration, encouragement and luck, he hopes to survive.

I am actually a little surprised at myself over this commitment. My idea of the perfect way to spend 4-5 odd hours is to curl up with a nice book and a few munchies on the side – not a high aerobic romp through urbanscapes. Still, it is a goal I have set myself and with incremental efforts, should be achievable. Lets see.

Encouragements, good wishes etc are welcome. (Calls for having my head checked are not)

  3. That is awesome. Good luck!

I am trying to imagine the pondit of two years ago making this commitment; personal growth is a good thing.

@ Patrix: I started running about a year back…hopefully the training will get me through

@ Confused: it takes a bit of will power to get rolling..

@ Brian: Sometimes, I find it tough to imagine this myself…

  5. All the best. I feel like saying something close to what Voltaire never said, “I do not understand why you do it, but I will defend to my beer your right to do it”
