Mahendra Singh Dhoni, while he is at the crease, brandishes his bat like no other player in the game.
Depending on the stroke – almost always an unconventional one – he is playing, the bat transforms into a broom, or a shovel, or a tennis racket, or most often, a club (in fact, Dhoni will not look out of place playing Bheema in a Mahabharath episode).
Additionally, as Australian commentator remarked, he really looks busy at the crease. Forget Kris Srikkanth and his elaborate pre-stance routine, Dhoni shuffles around the crease while batting like a man about to catch a train and trying to make sure he hasn’t forgotten anything while packing.
Finally, Rahul Bhatia puts forth much more eloquently on Dhoni’s cover drives:
Dhoni hurls himself into that shot so hard that he leaves his skin behind. (via)
