Okay - so I am a Valentine’s Day Scrooge in so as far as not wanting to shell out money for over-priced roses and plushy bears (call me a tighwad if you like), or to be herded into overcrowded restaurants full of coochie-coo-ing couples only to get bad service and food.
Mind you, I am not anti-valentine per se; if people are gullible enough to be shilled into spending insane amounts of money for illusion of romance (and think it will help) only for a day, more power to the free-market.
But, Hallmark’s insistence aside, Valentine’s Day does have platonic connotations. So in that spirit, a Happy Valentines Day to all visitors (stumblers, lurkers and other regulars alike [1]) of this blog.
As for the special someone, here’s a song dedication (brings back old memories):
And for the unrequited lovers or the lonely ones, here’s this immortal classic.
Also recommended reading for today: this peice by AO Scott in today’s Sydney Morning Herald about how Hollywood does not make romantic comedies like they used to anymore.

Something wrong with YouTube.. not playing anything over here right now.
Nothing tightwad-ish about the stuffed bears, if you ask me. I hate those.

Unexpected song from a Scrooge, would you agree? Maybe the Scrooge is just a show.
But thanks for it anyway.

@Vivek: as I said, I am not tightwad in the sense of never buying roses (or chocolates) - but I am in the sense, I do not wish to pay the 100% markup prices.
@curiouscat: Thanks - I love it when people appreciate things like that (talking about the header image).
