If it’s any consolation, it’s quite gloomy here in sunny California as well. At least you never had to live in Seattle. That thought alone should cheer you up. After 300 rainy days in my first year, I started to understand the origins of grunge rock, Starbucks, blue screen of death and Seattle’s dominance of national chess scene a little better.
Belated congratulations on the new opportunity and the upcoming big move! I know you will love it down there. One of our largest and longest-running implementation project is Amex Sydney. All of our consultants hate to come back to California and two of them quit and settled down there.
Music’s a great thought. Martinis are a must. As Sinatra said: “let me fix you a Martini that’s pure magic. It may not make life’s problems disappear, but it’ll certainly reduce their size”
@Just Mohit: Depending on the state of mind – a rainy is often welcome as you describe.
Thanks for reminding me about khichdi !
@Dipanjan: LOL @ the Seattle description. So if only Gates had set up shop in San Diego ! At this point, I would have also said – I will never live in Seattle – but I have learned my lessons about never saying never.
Thanks for the wishes. Everyone tells me Aus is going to be great. Still trying to figure out if I should support the cricket team
Same here. Since yesterday. I was so morose because of it that I left the bar early to go home and continue sulking
Put up your feet and listen to some music and mix some drinks. It’s 5′o’ clock somehwhere!
A drink, a good book, an easychair…sound of rain pattering on roofs…some quiet time to think…
Now why would that bring you down dude?
And if the above doesn’t work, have some khichdi with a well made dry gin martini, shaken stirred and served straight up with two olives!

Great thought – if only I could convince my boss
