Too many things going on to blog regularly. But meanwhile, if you want some humor in your life, engage in a chuckle or two at the expense of Indian mainstream media web-site’s mandatory idiocy and the bizarre depths of absurdity it can plunge itself.
It’s Abhishek v/s SRK in NY
So screams a Rediff headline. Eh ? Turns out both Abhishek Bachchan and Shah Rukh Khan are peddling high-end watches in the very low-end settings of Jackson Heights (the desi area of New York City in the borough of Queens).
Apart from my trivial gripes about poor watch joke, the fact that ‘NY’ could be both state and the city, and that Jackson Heights has always been obsessed with Bollywood (that SRK board has been there for a while), one would expect little attention to be paid to an artificially pumped debate on an inane, pointless issue.
But no - amazingly people are actually arguing with earnestness over the issue. The comments, left no doubt by astute readers, are quite funny to read. Some gems (no editing, all copy-pastes):
srk is the super dupper actor dont compared to ab, ab is now growing but srk is king of khan and king of bollywood film industry he is exceptinally good actor
I am not sure what this dude is trying to suggest:
RE:SRK - KING OF BOLLYWOOD
by gk on Mar 21, 2007 05:17 PM
ya beacose he is far behind of others
This one takes the cake though:
SRK CAME IN BECVAUSE OF OBC RESERVATIONS N NOTHING ELSE
And is this the GreatBong himself or one of his fans ?
Fool only one person.
apun ka Mithunda. bole tho Prabhuji
(I suspect there should be a punctuation after the word ‘Fool’ ).
Sigh !

No matter how hard I try to avoid reading Rediff comments, I just can’t ignore them.

@Sakshi: Great - now I will get a notice from your university blaming me for the unmindfullness of their grad students
Btw, browsing during a seminar - I like it!
@Patrix: Yeah - they are irresistible in the so bad yet funny kind of way. Guilty pleasures…..

It was a graduate student talk - I was bored (ok. excuses but a gal’s got to do what a gal’s got to do).. And the improper grammer and the juvenile comments kept me entertained
Btw, browsing during a seminar - I like it!
Reason #2 - For buying the laptop and I thank the FSM for having wireless access in the entire department!
