The state of Colorado is big and beautiful with too many activities to indulge in. This trip was part discovering cool urban areas and part getting close to nature. We managed to go around Denver, Boulder (university and downtown area), Estes Park and drive through the Rocky Mountain National Park with a bit of hiking thrown in.
This an an appetizer if you will. Main entree with details soon, hopefully.

Proof that we were mile high in Denver(at the steps of the State Capitol). Favorite slogan in these parts: “In most other states being high would be a felony“.
There was a ‘cow parade‘ going on in Denver (This blogger would appreciate). This cow was the ‘coolest’ one on show IMO.

Denver downtown is full of old warehouses converted to loft apartments for urban living. Was impressed by the combined residential/commercial space use.

Denver and Fort Collins is home to many local breweries. This was outside the Wynkoop Brewery.
Rocky Mountain National Park (RMNP) - near the foothills - about 8500ft elevation.
RMNP - near the tree-line.
RMNP - tundra vegetation. Nice view of mountains in the background.
Another view from over 12,000 ft.
Yet another. I wish I had wide angle lens. These pictures don’t do justice to the beauty of the view.

View of the mountains from the Grand Lake Lodge at the other end of the park. A thunderstorm was approaching the mountains.
These photos and more being gradually uploaded at Flickr.
