[...] BongoPundit has an excellent post/round-up on media and the Mumbai blasts in general. Sepia Mutiny comments on the deafening silence in the western blogosphere, and Curious Gawker points to the inane commentary at one of the few non-Indian blogs that did write about the blasts. Please do read. [...]

This is a singularly ignorant blog. Stop taking yourself so seriously in la-la land and start doing something real. You could start out by getting a book on how to write more interestingly.

Deafening silence in the blogosphere

While trying to deal with the tragedy in Mumbai, I have been wondering what the coverage of the story tells us about ourselves. I was not surprised by MSM coverage in America: poor in local papers, better in papers with a large desi population or those...

Bongo,

Thanks for all the effort. I know how hard it is to put up so many links. And I am beginning to get irritated with the liberal blogsphere disinclination to oppose anything the likes of Reynolds say. Come on, they are big enough to have their own views. And if they agree with Reynolds for once, heavens will not fall!

And of course, thanks for the mention.

@Gawker: Unfortunately, I think you are right. Ever since the 'nuclear deal' - the American left has grown anti-India. I had this theory that the left cannot imagine India becoming an economically and socially progressive country which does not need the charity and pity of the western rich anymore (whether India has really progressed to such extent is a different matter). But that's just being mean !

Anyway, I finally found the Kos mention. I don't want posts with whole lot of sympathies or even anger - and hell I can do without the bigotry of the right-wing - but I felt that the a major bomb blasts in the financial hub of the biggest democracy in the world, would at least be worth a prominent mention and perhaps some comments.

I was surprised at first at the lack of commentary from liberal blogs too. but I think the reason behind that is the liberal wing's tactic of staying away from anything the right wing does. So since the right wing bloggers spent so much ink on the bomb blasts and since their motivations for doing so were not out of any sympathy towards India but from a pro-bush agenda, liberal blogs didn't say anything so as not to be seen to be pro-bush. Somehow being india sympathetic turned into being pro-bush. Sad. although atrios did have a post and there was one on Dailykos too. but not a lot of anger.
